Residency at EIU

Big Robot just finished a residency at Eastern Illinois University in Charleston, IL (Feb. 27-28). We enjoyed a great response to our performance Friday night and had some thoughtful discussions with EIU faculty and students.

Noir at Cinesonika 2 in Vancouver

February 24th, 2012

A selection from Big Robot’s repertoire was included in Cinesonika 2, an international festival of film, video and sound design held in Vancouver during February 18-19, 2012. Noir, a multimedia work by M. Drews and J. Munson was shown during a special screening of films from 12 different countries. Michael and Jordan were on hand to present the work and also participate in a filmmakers panel during the festival.

Concert: Lala Gallery

November 7th, 2011

In October, Big Robot performed a concert at Lala Gallery in West Lafeyette, Indiana as part of the E3 Series for Improvisation Performance. The E3 Series hosts live performances by artists who feature improvisation. The series brings in artists from various art disciplines, including music, dance, and spoken word. Members of the Telematic Collective, assisted Big Robot in creating a networked environment for performance.

Big Robot Awarded Recording Grant

Performance-Residency at University of Illinois

Big Robot Recently returned from a residency-concert at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign School of Music.  It was great to work with the faculty and students faculty and students in the composition, electro-acoustic and percussion areas of the school.

CloudCom Concert

In December 2010 Big Robot was featured in an evening concert for the IEEE International Conference on Cloud Computing Technology and Science (CloudCom), held this year in Indianapolis. The concert was sponsored by the Pervasive Technology Institute at Indiana University.  It was a superb evening, and all in BR agree we have never been better feted…..catered food, fun people, incredible help, and a great sounding concert space.  Many thanks go out to graduate student members of the Telematic Collective at IUPUI: Dan Porter, Nate Dominy, Joshua Fielder and Hang Yu, for their technical assistance and support. New Orleans and Supercomputing

The group had a great time in New Orleans as guests of the Indiana University Pervasive Technology Institute, giving a concert at the opening gala of Supercomputing 2010.  New Orleans was a great place to perform and discover.
